To start, may I say I struggle with finding time to get a good workout..and I've been a fitness professional for 21 years. With the pressures of owning a business, working from home and taking care of my family, let's face it---sometimes it's hard. But to let that become an excuse not to workout is a BIG mistake. Chances are, you always find time to brush your teeth. Why? Because it's important to you. Because it's part of your daily routine. Because if you didn't, your teeth would decay and you'd have a really bad, expensive problem.
So, why do we use "not enough time" as an excuse not to exercise? Many times we don't have the support, the resources, or the proper information in order to reach our fitness goals. And if we are being honest, sometimes it's just not a priority.
So, if you are tired of starting and stopping your exercise regime, consider a few things:
- Start slow--How about 2 days a week, 15 minutes each session? By setting realistic exercise programs, you can reach goals. And there is nothing more motivating that achieving a goal. And the increased motivation will allow you to set increased fitness goals.
- Find an exercise buddy--Someone you love and trust. Someone that has the same goals that you do. How about a neighbor? Or another mom from your child's school? Perhaps you could meet twice a week at the school 15 minutes earlier and take a walk.
Whatever you do - do it well and be consistent!
