The formula for weight loss
It’s Saturday and like most every weekend, I have a million things to get done. So I thought, “I’ll just pick up something to eat while I’m out doing errands.” And then I thought again. I remembered my commitment to journaling my food and exercise every day. So I went to my online food diary and decided I was going to pick up a Carl’s Jr. Loaded Breakfast Burrito (and I was only going to eat half….you know, I was going to be good!) Then it came up. Oh my God, those things have almost 1,000 calories! And 49 grams of fat. Even if I only ate half (which I alway say I will do, but rarely do) — it was still a whooping 25 grams of fat! So, I thought about it and decided that I’d still go to Carl’s Jr. but get the BBQ Chicken Sandwhich (380 calories and 7 grams of fat). Wonderful! I made a good decision.
So, what is the formula for weight loss, you may ask? Well, it’s “simple” — Eat less and move more, right? Well, in a perfect world, that is correct. But life is messy and unpredictable. Sometimes it’s not about making the best choice, sometimes it’s about making a better choice. Because, if you are anything like me, I have many things in my life that are important. Besides my health and fitness, I have other goals and responsibilities like taking care of my family, my job, my finances, my friends, cleaning the house, doing the grocery shopping — and all of those things have to happen in 24 hours.
So, was a Carl’s Jr. BBQ Chicken Sandwich the best choice? No! Of course not. But for today, it was a better choice and I’m proud of it!
Working out on weekends
If you’re anything like me, workouts are hard enough during the week. But on the weekends, when so much is going on, exercising on Saturdays and Sundays are almost impossible. To get a really good workout on Saturday or Sunday, I need even more discipline and determination that I would need during the week. Here are a few things that make training on the weekends a little easier.
1. Get it done first thing in the morning. If I wait until the afternoon, something else always seems to come up. So, get that workout done early.
2. Do something different. Instead of going to the gym or health club, grab your husband or your neighbor and go to your neighborhood park, or go roller skating, or dust off your bikes and head on outside.
3. Lighten up. It’s ok to have a few days a week were your workouts aren’t 100%. So, on the weekends, still exercise, but cut yourself some slack and only workout at 70 or 80% of your abilities.
As always, consistency is more important than intensity. So stop talking about your health and do something to improve it.
A great toning exercise video
Today, this was my workout:
Total Body Toning #1 (from WorkoutsOnDemand.com of course ![]()
Walking for 20 minutes
And to finish it all up, Express Yoga #2 (again, another cool workout video from Workouts On Demand!)
And guess what….I feel invigorated! I will admit, half way through my walk, I just wanted to go home and watch Seinfeild, but I kept going, I didn’t stop and I exercised they way my body wanted me to….hard!
Anyway, tomorrow I think Im going to try a run/walk. We’ll see what happens (because I’ve never been a strong runner), but this I know, I can’t wait to get that great rush of endorphins that I get every time after I push hard and challenge my body with another workout!
MORE of my perfect size journey
OKAY!! Now back to the next chapter in how I literally changed my identity from a fat person to an average size person both on the inside AND on the outside! www.heartofyoursuccess.com
You know it is said that when the student is ready the teacher appears. The exquisite nature of my longstanding pain about being fat coupled with my growing awareness that both the problem and the solution were simultaneously within me literally gave way to my breakthrough.
My first teacher appeared in the form of workshop that was geared to assist someone to break through their barriers to achieve the success they wanted. I heard the advertisement on the radio and he spoke about how our limiting beliefs concerning what we think is possible and how we view ourselves can actually prevent us from achieving our goals. WHAT DID I DEEP DOWN REALLY BELIEVE ABOUT BEING FAT AND ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF NOT BEING FAT????? I honestly felt as if it were a personal invitation to me alone! I pulled my car over and immediately called and booked my spot. Something had already shifted within me; I just intuitively knew that this would unlock what was blocking me.
Stay tuned for the more of how I became the woman who writes this to you today…..WOW…what a ride it is!!!!!!!!! Have I mentioned yet that I actually TRULY do love myself today??? YOU BET I DO!!
